Arup Global Research Challenge 2012

Following the success of a competition they held last year, Arup are pleased to announce the Global Research Challenge 2012 to address top research priorities from Arup Research roadmap. The Challenge is open to both internal Arup people and academic collaborators. Arup envisage funding 3-5 short term collaborative research projects with budgets up to £50k each.

Academic partners are  invited to submit expressions of interest. Arup encourages its colleagues to share with academic collaborators and  are also contacting a number of selected university partners globally.

The 3 topics are:

·         Energy storage technologies and integration challenges across all scales

·         New materials for construction, or components or systems that use new materials and that will open up new business opportunities

·         Improving approaches to “Public Private Partnerships” (PPPs) for projects in the built environment (buildings and infrastructure)

You have until Friday 15th June to send your completed Expression of Interest. Proposals will be selected on the basis of their novelty, relevance, potential impact for our business and value of the collaboration.

Further information on the topics and the entry process can be found on the relevant Arup web page.

There is also a Linkedin group to facilitate topic discussion and collaboration http://www.linkedin.com/groups?gid=4434778
