Engineering & Physical Sciences Research Council
The Engineering & Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC) is the main UK government agency for funding research and training in engineering and the physical sciences, investing around £740 million a year in a broad range of subjects – from mathematics to materials science, and from information technology to structural engineering. The EPSRC's mission is to:
- Promote and support, by any means, high quality basic, strategic and applied research and related postgraduate training in engineering and the physical sciences.
- Advance knowledge and technology (including the promotion and support of the exploitation of research outcomes), and provide trained scientists and engineers, which meet the needs of users and beneficiaries (including the chemical, communications, construction, electrical, electronic, energy, engineering, information technology, pharmaceutical, process and other industries), thereby contributing to the economic competitiveness of the United Kingdom and our quality of life.
Dave Holtum, from the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council says 'Success of Living With Environmental Change for the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council would be:
- Identifying and enhancing the impact of physical sciences and engineering research through Living With Environmental Change.
- Ensuring that future research is commissioned in full knowledge of research being carried out by other Living With Environmental Change partners (or already done) and that co-funding is included where appropriate.'
