Director of Living With Environmental Change, an initiative involving 21 partners that aims to optimise the coherence and effectiveness of UK environmental research funding, with the specific aim of ensuring that decision makers in government, business and society have the foresight, knowledge and tools to mitigate, adapt to and benefit from environmental change.
Prior to becoming Director of LWEC in 2008 he was Professor of Environmental Sciences at the University of East Anglia and Director of the Tyndall Centre for Climate Change Research where he took a particular interest in flooding and the impacts of climate change on the coastal zone. He contributed to the latest IPCC assessment and currently sits on a number of research council, government and programme advisory boards.
