Mary is a plant pathologist by training and following two postdocs, spent 10 years in the agrochemical industry working in fungicide discovery and leading teams in the UK, Germany and the USA.
Following a career break she joined the Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council in 2000 and then moved to the Natural Environment Research Council in 2002 where she set up and then lead the Environment Research Funders' Forum for eight years. ERFF brought together the public sector funders of environment research and led the development and launch of Living With Environmental Change in 2007/8.
Following the merger of Living With Environmental Change and ERFF in June 2010 Mary is delighted to now be working in this expanded partnership leading implementation of Living With Environmental Change's delivery plan and managing the Directorate.
