Ken O'Callaghan

Bio

Kenneth O’Callaghan is Head of the LWEC Directorate. After leaving academia he joined the Department of Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, where he worked as a senior scientist, as an advisor in the team of Defra’s former Chief Scientific Advisor (Professor Sir Howard Dalton) and as a project leader for strategic science activities. Ken is interested in cross-organisational strategic research issues, in interdisciplinary research, and in how interactive research activities interface with often equally synergistic policy and business problems.

Ken has been involved with chemical, molecular and microbiological research with environmental and health applications and has contributed to the work of numerous strategic research groups. He currently serves on several public sector scientific management and research bodies.
